Connecting to a System

When the System Administration & Diagnostics application is started, the last viewed connection (if any) is automatically activated.

If the Connect to the system connection option is enabled in the Options menu (see General Tab), a connection is automatically initiated; otherwise, do the following:

To initiate a connection manually:

After connected, if the Start monitoring system option is enabled in the Options menu (see General Tab), system monitoring starts automatically. If the Launch DB Programming option is enabled in the Options menu, DB Programming is launched as well.

If you select the Always save SSL certificates and do not show this security alert message again check box, the security alert message will no longer be displayed when the SSL certificate will always be saved. However, there is a setting on the Options window to start displaying the alert message again. See "Show security alert message when SSL certificate is not recognized" in the General Tab.

System Administration & Diagnostics always attempts to connect using a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connection first. Whenever System Administration & Diagnostics connects and an unrecognized host key is detected, a security alert appears and prompts you to accept the key. This occurs whenever System Administration & Diagnostics connects to a system for the first time, whenever the system's IP address has changed, or whenever the system has a new key for any other reason.

To save the key and proceed with the connection:

Click Connect and save SSL certificate. Until the system's key changes, you will not see this prompt again when connecting to that system.

To proceed with the connection just once without saving the key:

Click Connect without saving. You will be prompted again next time you connect to the same system.

To exit without proceeding the connection:

Click Disconnect. You will be prompted again next time you connect to the same system.
